Event Round Details
Time Limit: 15 min. Teams will be given a set of related clues. The clues will be connected to a particular mobile app. Teams must identify the app based on the connection between the clues. Each question has a 40-second time limit. The answer must be entered before the time runs out. This is a non-elimination round.
- Each correct answer earns points for the team.
- No points will be awarded for incorrect answers.
- Answers submitted after the 40-second time limit will not be considered.
- Teams cannot change their answer once submitted.
- The top 3 teams with the highest scores at the end of Round 0 will receive bonus time in Round 1.
- The amount of bonus time will be announced by the organizers.
In case of a tie, the team with the lower average time taken to answer will be ranked higher. Average time will be calculated based on the time taken by the team to answer the questions.
Time Limit: 1 hour (includes design + short pitch prep). In The Big Flip Challenge, each team will be given one famous app and one completely random concept. Your task is to take the core features of the original app and cleverly "flip" or repurpose them to fit the new concept, creating a fresh app idea. For example, if you get Snapchat and the concept "Recipe App," you could flip Snapchat's camera into a food scanner that generates recipes, or turn its friend emoji system into cooking badges for friends. You'll have to sketch/describe your new app, highlighting user flow, features, and design thinking.
- Designs should be creative yet practical.
- Top 8 teams go to the next round.
- Scoring: Creative use of original app's features (30%); Feasibility & user appeal (30%); Presentation clarity (20%); Visual/Design detailing (20%)
The created designs will be reevaluated and selected.
Time Limit: 50 minutes. Defend yours. Destroy theirs. Each team will get 5 mins to present their app design. Opponents get 3 mins to identify as many critical flaws as possible in usability, feasibility, design, and consistency. This is a survival knockout round – only 4 teams advance to the finals. Judges score on: strength of arguments & counter-arguments, ability to suggest constructive alternatives, and defense quality under critique.
- Respectful, constructive feedback only – no personal remarks
The best four teams advance to the final round.
Time Limit: 20 minutes. Fast, furious, and all about design IQ. Questions will be rapid-fire, covering: 2 Truths and a Lie, finding the correct app from the old logo, and a design-related guessing round (comparing logos). Buzzer System – answer first. Wrong answers incur negative marking.
- The first team/participant to press the buzzer gets the opportunity to answer the question.
- A correct answer earns points.
- If the answer is wrong, the passing of the question to another team will depend on the nature of the question, as decided by the organizers.
- If no one answers, the score remains 0 for that question.
- Once the buzzer is pressed, the team must respond immediately, without additional discussion time.
- In case of multiple buzzes, priority will be given to the team whose buzzer was detected first.
- At the end of the quiz, scores will be totaled and participants will be ranked based on points.
- The top 3 teams/participants will be declared the winners of the event.
A tie-breaker question will decide the final ranking.
