Event Round Details

Description

Teams must develop a fully functional website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript based on a given theme within the allotted time. The website should feature an attractive modern UI while intentionally incorporating a confusing, unconventional, or frustrating UX without compromising functionality. AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and GitHub Copilot are permitted. Teams can also earn bonus points through Connections and Bid & Build challenges.

Rules
  • Team size is strictly 2 members.
  • Only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are allowed.
  • AI tools are permitted.
  • The website must remain fully functional despite the unconventional UX.
  • Bonus challenge scores contribute to the final Round 1 score
Tie Breaker

In case of a tie, the team with the higher Technical Functionality score will be ranked higher. If the tie persists, the higher Bid & Build score will be considered.

Description

The top 10 teams from Round 1 advance to the finals. Each team consists of a Designer and a Developer. The Designer gets 90 seconds to observe a reference UI and must verbally communicate the design to the Developer, who recreates it without directly viewing the reference. Teams begin with 100 Aura Points, which may be spent to purchase additional design viewings, requiring strategic resource management.

Rules
  • Only the Designer may view the reference UI.
  • Communication between teammates must be verbal only.
  • Developers cannot view the reference image directly.
  • Teams start with 100 Aura Points and may spend them for additional UI viewings.
  • The recreated webpage must be responsive and completed within the allotted time.
Tie Breaker

In case of a tie, the team with the higher Replica Accuracy score will be ranked higher. If still tied, the team with more remaining Aura Points will be given preference. If a tie still exists, judges' evaluation of code quality and responsiveness will determine the winner.
